Comparison terbagi 2 yaitu :

1. Comparative Degree (Tingkat Lebih)


Pattern I :

To be + adjective / adverb+ er + than……


Syarat :. Adjective satu suku kata (syllable) pengucapan serta adjective dua suku kata pengucapan yang diakhiri “Ow, le, some, y, er”. Example : holy, narrow, gentle, handsome, naughty

Example :

 She is taller than me.
 This room is narrower than that room.
 He is smarter than her.
 This house is bigger than one.


Pattern II :


To be + more + adjective / adverb +than….


Syarat : Adjective dua suku kata pengucapan yang tidak diakhiri “Ow, le, some, y, er”. Dan semua adjective yang lebih dari dua suku kata pengucapan.


Example :
 They are more stupid than me.
 She is more beautiful than me.
 Their house is more comfortable than our house.

2. Superlative Degree (Tingkat Paling)

Pattern I :

To be + The + Adjective / Adverb + est + among/in/of…….


Syarat : Sama dengan syarat comperative degree ploa I.

Example :
 Our classroom is the cleanest among others.
 She is the laziest in the class.
 She is the smartest in her school.


Pattern II :


To be + The Most + Adjective / Adverb + Among / of / in…….


Syarat : Sama dengan ketentuan pada comperative degree.

Example :
 My friend is the most beautiful among us.
 He is the most careless in my class.

Example :
- Tono is as young as Anto = Tono semuda Anto.


Perbandingan yang menyatakan perbedaan :

S + be + not + as/so + adjective +as + o/c


Example :

- Roy is not as strong as Andi = Roy tidak sekuat Andi.
- Roy is not so strong as Andi = Roy tidak sekuat Andi.
